My prayer

In light of the fact that I've taken a hiatus from blogging...here is a piece of literature I can across recently...

"Days pass and the years vanish and we walk sightless among miracles. Lord, fill our eyes with seeing and our minds with knowing. Let there be moments when your Presence, like lightning, illumines the darkness in which we walk. Help us to see, wherever we gaze, that the bush burns, unconsumed. And we, clay touched by God, will reach out for holiness and exclaim in wonder, "How filled with awe is this place and we did not know it."

I'll write more later. Wendy is on her way over.

ah yes...back to writing in this. since my other options are studying for my gis midterm tomorrow or my stats test friday, this looks like a good procrastinator move...

it's been a good week, though i'm still mysteriously tired despite getting loads of sleep. once these tests are done i'll be a happy camper. and then mom and dad come, so i'm super-stoked!!! i just hope the weather cooperates, b/c right now it's really poopy outside. i had to ride my bike home in the rain, and i even got to witness a car accident (no one was hurt...just a fender bender). eeks. i'm just glad it wasn't me b/c bike + car = bad news for the biker in general.

ok, on to business:

it's been awhile since i've done these lessons, so they're not as fresh as they were a couple weeks ago. but i'll try. sometimes these thought patterns are kind of hard, but i actually really enjoyed this group. maybe it was because of where i was in life at this point, but it made a whole lot of sense. we've talked quite a bit about this, but i totally notice a difference when i have some acim thought to think about during the day. very often things come into my mind that are disturbing or uncomfortable or unhealthy, and it's a comfort to have something to call on. i liked lesson 29 alot..."God is in everything i see," though it was a little hard to envision that God is in, oh, let's say, the carpet i'm sitting on. it's so easy to think that the things in our lives exist only for our own purposes, when in reality their true reason for being is totally separate from our needs. the most helpful bit was the part about how "i am not a victim of the world i see" and "there is another way of looking at this." as you know, alot of crappy things happened in my world last week, and i wasn't dealing with that very well. but one of the best things (or curses, depending on how you look at it) about acim is that it's hard to feel sorry for yourself for very long. for example, a certain someone whose name rhymes with 'schmoe' did not probably tell me his shitty news to make me feel bad...that's just how i interpreted it. instead i could thank the LORD that it wasn't me and i'm not trapped in a relationship with someone the universe didn't want for me. and i'll choose to think that he had good intentions instead of wanting to hurt me. or (this may seem petty), chau (my coworker) is not TRYING to piss me off by being a shitty know-it-all who slurps her hot beverages WAY too loudly. instead i can see her presence as challenging to me and use it to be a better student. or my siblings aren't calling back b/c they don't love me or want to chat...they're just busy. you get the idea. it's super easy to centralize things and let them overwhelm you when in reality things/situations really aren't that big of a deal, or there is something bigger to be learned from it all. I COULD SEE PEACE INSTEAD OF THIS. peace. what a great thought. we all know school usually turned me into a pyschopath growing up. but now days i'm much better at shutting off my brain, and sometimes before bed i just get all snuggly in the covers shut it all off and just become totally at peace. it's a fantastic feeling, and if we want to, we could feel that way always. holding on to pain and hurt and broken relationships is draining and is not HEALTHY. yet it's so easy to do.

anyway, that's what i've got for now. like i said, i really enjoyed the readings for this week. THIS week's get a lot tougher...but that's for next time.

and now i need to drink hot beverages and study for gis.

love.

"you don not have to continue to believe what is not true unless you CHOOSE to do so." hmmm...
