Today was Nana's 84th Birthday. Since we couldn't be in Hill City on a Tuesday to celebrate with her, we wished her well tonight via the phone, Von Trapp style.
On June 24, we learned that Nana has colon cancer that has metastasized to her liver and her lungs. The news was devastating...and unbelievable, given that Nana routinely walks 2 miles to Quadna and back every day and hosts a daily happy hour with a few of her siblings and friends every afternoon at her home on Hill Lake. When Adam called to talk to her upon hearing the difficult news, Nana said she had scheduled an appointment because she felt a little "punk." Others may have faced this new diagnosis with fear and trepidation...but not Nana Splash. She bravely resolved to meet this challenge with positive energy.
It was, therefore, no surprise to read the relationship advice Nana shared on the index card she prepared for the memory book I compiled to commemorate the bridal shower I hosted for Laura in St. Cloud on May 16.
"Every thought you have has an energy that will either strengthen or weaken you!"
Nana...keep believing in the power of positive energy...and we will continue to pray.
As the Course In Miracles teaches, "Prayer is the medium of miracles. It is a means of communication of the created with the Creator. Through prayer, love is received, and though miracles, love is expressed."
We love you...Happy Birthday!
