We rounded out the weekend by assembling and trimming our Christmas tree, which required me to clean the living room first. The boys were pretty ho hum about the assembly; Collin and Aaron opted to play outside after screwing the post into the base, sorting the artificial limbs, and helping Adam fluff and insert the bottom row while I strung lights. Nolan was happy to munch on a bag of M&Ms and watch the progression. I'm really not sure why Aaron and Nolan decided against wearing pants.
After dinner we turned the boys loose with their boxes of ornaments. They were delighted to rediscover past holiday creations, as well as the annual ornaments from Auntie Ellie. We resisted the urge to re-arrange ornaments from high density to lower density real estate, knowing that the favorite ornaments will likely be removed, admired (hopefully not broken), and relocated many times before Christmas without our help anyway.
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! How richly God has decked thee! O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! How richly God has decked thee! Thou bidst us true and faithful be, And trust in God unchangingly. O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! How richly God has decked thee!
