Red Rocks and Golden

The Frontier tickets Adam secured for our troubles during our visit to ID last summer were set to expire at the end of August, so he booked a family trip after we returned from Holden Village to CO to visit Auntie Laura and Bob during MEA break. We left for the Lindbergh terminal after Adam finished work on Wednesday, and after successfully maneuvering the Minneapolis Park-N-Fly, 2 international airports, FOX rental car company, and a 50 minute drive, we arrived at Bob and Laura's condo in Lakewood around 10:30pm. The boys were sleeping, so they were very excited in the morning when they awoke early to see Auntie Laura and Uncle Bob.

On Thursday, we hopped in our Kia Soul rental car...
and drove to nearby Red Rocks.
Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), Red Rocks, the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheatre in the world, opened June 15, 1941 and seats 9,450 people. Red Rocks Park was once listed among the 7 natural wonders of the world, a unique transitional zone where the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains.




Sometime during our tour of the visitor's center [at the top of all those stairs] Nolan fell asleep and remained that way until we put him in his car seat in the rental car.
We left Red Rocks and headed to Golden, where we grabbed sandwiches at D'deli and walked to Parfet Park. We then walked along Clear Creek to a couple of playgrounds. When Bob had to leave to see a client, Laura offered to take the boys to a larger playground while Adam and I walked to Coors, to catch the last brewing tour of the day. While at the playground, Laura and the boys witnessed a man do stunts on his bicycle, followed by a stunt with his kayak. When we caught up with them, they were enjoying treats at an ice cream shop on Washington Ave.
