Upon returning to the main grounds with bags of apples in hand, we typically stroll through the petting zoo…or more accurately, try to avoid the stampede of various barnyard animals stealing a small smorgasbord of grains from the precariously held plastic cups of unsuspecting children. But, since the petting zoo was muddy, the boys had to settle for shoving aforementioned grain to the animals through a wooden fence, which just isn’t the same as getting chased by goats, sheep, a cow with tennis balls on his horns, and a very persistent alpaca. 
Finally, we visited the apple shop and gave it to Collin and Aaron's pleas for a special purchase two very tempting swirly sucker sticks before driving home. Aaron was so tired from our busy weekend, that he had a very difficult time keeping his eyes open to enjoy his sucker. 
"Cheeeese, cheeeese....., cheeeesssseeee....."
In previous years, I've used the apples to make pies and apple crisps that I've stored in the freezer for special occasions throughout the year. This year, I'm making applesauce, by peeling and coring the apples and cooking them in a small amount of water on the stove top until they are soft, adding a small amount of honey from the farm, blending well with my handheld immersion blender, and storing in various baby food containers. Nolan is a lucky little boy, who will enjoy apples with his breast milk oatmeal cereal well into 2010!
