United States Tennis Association - Better Late than Never

While we were celebrating Dan and Lori’s love, Adam was competing in the National 5.0Men’s Tennis Tournament at Indian Wells in Palm Springs, CA. Adam, Ryan, Tony, Lundy arrived as scheduled on Thursday night; however, Nick was delayed in Denver because of a snow storm with the other Northern (younger Gustavus) team. Despite intense negotiations, tournament officials forced them to play Friday morning with only 4 players, defaulting the #1 singles point. In spite of this mental setback, they beat the California team 2-1. Nick eventually arrived and immediately went on court for the second match. The team won 3-0.
With those two wins, they only needed to win one more match to be among the top four 5.0 teams in the nation. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. They lost both Saturday matches, 2-1 (Tony won all the singles point and the doubles points were lost in close matches).
Unfortunately, since they competed at Nationals, they are not eligible to play together during the upcoming winter league season.
