We temporarily forgot we had told Laura she could borrow the truck this weekend while she stayed at our home and attended a friend's wedding, so instead of the boys and I picking up Adam from work, Adam arrived home a little after lunch so he could take his 1 o'clock call from home. The call was cancelled, so we got a jump on our weekend, arriving in Hill City just in time to unpack and have dinner. An unfortunate miscommunication resulted in Adam having no clothes or personal items for the weekend. Oops. But, not to worry, he looked dashing in the spare clothes Wendy keeps for herself at the cabin.
From the moment we arrived, until the moment we left, the boys were begging one of us to go fishing with them. After an entire weekend of fishing with crawlers and leeches, I introduced the boys to the fine art of seining at Nana's beach on Sunday, which was my favorite moment of the trip. We caught an unprecedented number of crappie minnows by tricking them into our net with our "sneaky moves". Once the minnow bucket was full to capacity, the boys, armed with this new tackle, got back to the important job of fishing.
We had Nana to ourselves all weekend. On Sat night after dinner, we went back to Nana's for a pontoon ride around Hill Lake proper, captained by Nana herself.
Miss Lovie Loverton was very popular, as always, with the boys. We weren't sure how she felt about all the attention...but we got some idea later in the weekend.
