Frog Frenzy-Big Stone 2010

We postponed our annual Big Stone trip to the last weekend in August so Linda and Maxine could embark on a spiritual journey to Mt. Shasta in celebration of a friend's birthday the third weekend in June. As is also tradition, Grandma and Grandpa EIO were able to join us Saturday afternoon.
Synchronicity reigns. The Passat turned 130,000 as we pulled into the park for Big Stone 2009. One year and exactly 20,000 miles later we are back in typical Beduhn fashion...low on gas, driving slightly over the speed limit, with a broken ABS system.

"We're going on a leopard frog hunt...
We're going on a frog hunt.
But I'm not afraid (OK...maybe just a little!)"

After finally catching a frog, Collin ran to show Great Aunt Linda:
Collin, "Your turn [to hold the frog]."
Linda, "No, I don't like frogs."
Collin, "You gotta be kidding me!"
Aaron, "I like frogs because they jump."

Sleeping beauties

This poor little frog is definately worse for the wear after Nolan is finished with him.

Aaron initiated a run and jump similar to the Hill City board dock jumping of last weekend. Due to the depth of water in the kiddy pool, this activity seemed equally dangerous! He wouldn't have it any other way.

Smores! Shortly after Grandma and Grandpa left to return to the farm, Nolan snuggled into my lap and fell asleep while we admired the dancing flames. After I laid Nolan in the camper, Aaron took his place on my lap and drifted off to sleep. Both moments are indelibly committed to my memory of this annual intergenerational celebration.
