Downturn

We dropped off Parmesan Chicken this morning for two of our neighbors who are currently laid-off. Unfortunately, the economic downturn is becoming more and more visible every day and affecting people we know...real people...not just people on TV.

I think the only way out of this thing is for all of us to find ways to help those close to us. A couple weeks ago, I read a Newsweek article titled, "The Science of Our Generosity." There are studies that prove that people are more likely to help a single individual than many. It appears when faced with an enormous problem there is a diffusion of responsibility that results in a bystander effect.

From a forest perspective, the problems facing us seem insurmountable...but maybe, just maybe...if we can all just help a little...and look to the trees...we might be able to get ourselves out of this mess.

Let's all do what we can.
