Road Trip

Nolan...and more importantly the rest of us...survived his first long road trip to the farm. All three boys are in car seats in the back of the Passat, baby Nolan in the middle, flanked by Collin and Aaron, who are in "cold storage" watching their DVD video players. It's tight, but it works.

Collin reassured Nolan before we left, "Baby Nolan, it's a really long way...but it's fun when you get there!"

We used to stop at Subway to break up the drive, but the boys just didn't eat and Collin never wanted his movie interrupted, so it was an exercise in frustration for everyone. We've learned that a "peanut butter sandwich made with jam" (Raffi lovers...sing with me) is the way to go...complete with Gatorade and pretzels, and maybe a little treat. Adam and I settle for eating a Subway on the road.

So after a quick stop at Subway, a nursing stop for Nolan (meticulously timed with a banana and potty stop for Collin and Aaron in Hector), another potty stop (which occurred behind the gas station because they didn't have a bathroom?), and yet another potty stop along the side of the road for Aaron less than a mile east of Brandt, we arrived at the "EIO" in a little over 4.5 hours. Thank goodness I didn't attempt it on my own!

Let the fun begin.
