Today they drove Grandpa EIO's new fire truck around the house...honking the air horn...smiling from ear to ear. Parade circuit, here we come!
We had an impromptu family gathering after lunch. Great Grandma Darlene, Great Aunt Linda and Maxine, Great Uncle Gordon, Great Great Uncles Bud and Don, and Auntie Ruthie, Uncle Terry and cousin Tyler came to welcome Nolan into the family. It was an afternoon of laughing and stories and Buck Euchre...and hopefully a welcome distraction for Linda and Maxine.

Linda and Maxine left their home in Fargo ahead of the mandatory evacuation. The Red River crested this morning at 40.82 feet. The dikes and levees, if they can hold, will protect the city from this crest. The efforts of thousands of volunteers will pay off. Again...hope will conquer fear. It is a blessing.

What?!?! A fire truck of their very own?!? !!!!!
That is an unfair advantage, Grandma and Grandpa EIO!!!
First a farm, and now a firetruck! Wow! We now know how Phil Michelson feels when he is on the course with Tiger Woods! (wink wink)
