In the spirit of “knocking things off our list”, we skipped church today and cleaned the gutters. Not only were the whirly birds attempting to establish themselves as mature maples in the gutter guards, but I noticed while retrieving the Aerobee off the roof last week that the gutters were also harboring earwigs. A couple hours and a giant yard waste bin later, water again flowed freely through the proper channels off our roof.
We had a remarkable weekend, not because of all the things we accomplished, but because we worked together without arguing. We took breaks…to play with the kids, to talk, to rest...and when we returned to work, it was at a leisurely pace.
After all, I have to constantly remind myself…we are human beings, not human doings.
Nolan is 5 months old today. The jury's still out on his Exersaucer. Instead of expressing excitement about a new toy and an opportunity for some upright autonomy, he seems to consider it a demotion from the Baby Bjorn. He is communicating, "Mom...will you just pick me up...please..."
