Farmer's Market

We had so much fun hanging out at home last weekend, we decided a repeat performance was in order.

One of our favorite things to do on Saturday mornings is to venture to the Bloomington Farmer's Market for fresh, locally grown produce. We try to go around noon, so that, while I shop for desired vegetables, Adam and the boys can try to cut a two for one deal on smoothies with the vendors at the Inta Juice stand.

Having this fresh produce in the house provides new inspiration for our menu. In the past week we have enjoyed culinary delights such as cilantro pork loin with green beans and croissant chicken with sugar snap peas, carrots, green pepper and green onions.

My hope is that we're moving toward a food revolution in this country...where we demand seasonally appropriate, locally grown organic food, instead of food that has been grown under stressed and sometimes synthetic conditions, and shipped thousands of miles across the country to finally land in the produce isles of our grocery stores. If we can get a little closer to our food and to the dirt that it is grown in...maybe both our environment and our bodies will be a little healthier.

One can only hope...
