After countless strategy discussions and serious posturing, the lineups were set. Tony Larsen would play singles, with Haddorff/Lundmark and Hupton/Scott Larsen at doubles for the U of M Pratt match. Adam would replace Nick for the Gustie Bryan match. The lineup for Sunday's match against the Fargo team was TBD.
The morning match against the U was a success, with the team winning 2-1. However, the team came up a little short in their match against the Bryans, dropping both the singles point and the Haddorff/Lundmark doubles point. Adam and Scott won their match in a super breaker, 10-8.
Not wanting to be a distraction, the boys and I offered our support from home. After the match, Ed and Wendy stopped by to say hi to the boys. Even if the men can sweep the Fargo team 3-0 tomorrow, it may not be enough to qualify for the National USTA Tournament in Palm Springs, CA.
They are holding on to hope. Their level of play is such that they could probably really make some noise at Nationals...if the opportunity comes their way.
