The following summer, Heather assumed the role of Program Director, following Kate's "retirement". Heather, Debbie and I sat in a circle one night before staff training began and pinkie promised each other that we wouldn't again be distracted by relationships with members of the opposite sex. Funny enough, each of us broke that promise, and two of us are now married and have children with those men.
Working side by side in the fresh mountain air, with all of our basic needs provided for, we were able to build community...friendships unique to any other time in our life. Here we were free to question our faith, spirituality...and in doing so, feel closer to the Divine than we had at any other time in our lives.
Heather and Jordan visited us today before returning to their second home in Sun Valley, Idaho for the summer. We look forward to the time when we can again share mountaintop experiences...with each other and our growing families. For now, we'll settle for some quality time in the Midwest.
