According to the Back Story in Newsweek on 6/22/09 the average life expectancy for American men is 75.2 years, for women, 80.4. However, there are known statistical factors that affect these numbers. One of the most surprising is that men apparently benefit greatly from the institution of marriage, which adds an average of 5 years to their life expectancy. Women, however, experience no similar benefit.
All else hopefully being equal, it appears that Adam's new number is 80.2...right up there next to mine. Now we just have to find a way to make up for the three year difference in our ages and we can spend the rest of our days together.
