The Disbanding of the Sharks

Collin's participation medal

Coach Daddy with Collin

The YMCA Sharks (we're not the only team with that name!)

Collin was pleasantly surprised with the medals ceremony commemorating the end of his YMCA spring soccer session. The kids were individually congratulated for their enthusiastic participation. Collin proudly wore his medal the rest of the evening and packed it in his suitcase to show BaPa Minnows and Grandma Honey Honey.

After full work days for Adam and I and a long day of daycare at Lori’s for the boys, we have been meeting for the past 2 weeks at the soccer fields at Washburn Elementary School at 5:15pm in Bloomington. We've been arriving tired and worn...and have realized our Thursday schedule is just too full.

Unfortunately, Collin has been experiencing intermittent pain in the arch of his right foot for almost 2 months that sometimes makes it difficult for him to run and play. It's a puzzling injury, appearing primarily after activity without shoes and dissipating with rest. Since it doesn't hurt when I massage it, only when pressure is applied, it's a real mystery. I know it causes him pain...real pain. It happened the first time before pajama day at school, accompanied with so much drama that I was sure it must be broken. It has happened a handful of times since then, including last week during soccer practice. Instead of crying and sitting out, Collin was out on the field, limping around trying to play freeze tag with the rest of his team. Adam praised him for his determination.

Collin is an outstanding kid. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide him with this experience.

Shot on goal during practice with Aaron returning the ball and Nolan "coo cheering" in the background.
