I met Sonja a little over 4 years ago while walking with Collin, nestled in the Baby Bjorn, around our neighborhood. She was walking with Keaton in an external frame backpack...and after a couple minutes of conversation, we realized that we had some shared experiences in Idaho. We became fast friends, and now we frequently call each other for play dates.
Collin rode "Major Damage", Aaron primarily rode in the stroller, except for brief periods when he insisted on running, and Nolan rode in the Baby Bjorn on our way over to Steve and Sonja's house this morning to play with Keaton (5) and Gavin (3).
I try not to hurry the kids, allowing them as much time as they desire to observe their surroundings and ask questions. In addition to wildlife, plants and tacky lawn ornaments, we also, unfortunately, notice the trash people carelessly discard into the environment. I've been trying to encourage the boys to stop and pick it up...so we can bring it home with us and place it in the proper garbage receptacle.
They are excelling at the garbage scavenger hunt game. We often return from walks with at least 3 pieces of trash for the garbage and/or the recycling. We are practicing leaving the path better than you find it...a good principle when dealing with actual trash or just everyday life.
