After stopping at the Home Depot for supplies and the Bloomington Farmer's Market for some fresh produce and lunch on our way home from Afton yesterday, Adam and I took advantage of our time away from the boys by tackling our growing "to-do" list. We had a very aggressive plan, given the knowledge that seemingly simple projects often take way longer than expected. The goal was to fix the snapped cable on my garage door, fix the fence in the back corner of our lot, plant the ferns we purchased on Friday, and re-attach the screen door that blew apart some time during Nolan's baptism celebration.
Not only did we accomplish all of those tasks, but while Adam was fixing the fence, he found a brand new (tag still attached) faucet splitter, which was exactly what we needed to fix the broken spigot in the front yard that refused to turn off a couple of weeks ago after a nighttime watering of the hosta labyrinth. Then, while shutting the front gate in preparation for a walk around the neighborhood, Adam noticed a long eye hook behind the fence, the exact size needed to secure the shed door, effectively completing our "to do" list. We even had time left over for movie night.
It's really amazing how much one can accomplish when given some dedicated time. I don't know how we spent our time before we had kids...but I remember thinking we were busy then. If we only knew then what we know now!
We drove to St. Cloud today to pick up the boys from their adventure. They had so much fun...so much fun in fact that yesterday when we called to see how they were doing they refused to talk to Adam for fear the fun would be spoiled. Grandpa and Grandma spoiled them with uninterrupted attention and trips to neighborhood parks and the St. Cloud water park.
It was a good weekend for all of us.
