Since Heather and Jordan are now head residents at Gustavus, I called them for some additional contacts. Heather suggested her cousin, Joelle...who just happened to be available this weekend. Oh...sweet, sweet, sweet babysitter, Joelle...welcome to our family! We are so excited to have you...and to know your phone number!
This left the door open for Adam, Nolan and I to attend the traditional wedding ceremony of another great camp friend, Steve. Earlier in the day, the wedding party and close family also celebrated a traditional Vietnamese ceremony at Tan's childhood home. The theme of their day was friendship, love, life. Steve and Tan are childhood friends. The most memorable part of the evening was Steve's speech, which was a public declaration of the love and respect he has for Tan. As we approach the age when more and more of our friends are getting divorced, it is reassuring to be in the presence of two people who have known each other for the better part of their lives...people who are so very comfortable in their own skin, both individually and as a couple that they make everyone they meet feel welcome, appreciated and loved.
We are blessed to be surrounded by such fantastic people...and to call them friends.
