The Luckiest

We called Adam at work to see if he could meet us at Noodles after our long car ride back to the Cities late yesterday afternoon, before driving home to unpack the car. Adam had a quiet weekend by himself, working late on Friday night, playing golf and imbibing at Billy's on Grand with some old friends on Saturday, and touching up the kitchen cabinets in his "spare" time while jamming to some old mix CDs.

Stuck to the kitchen radio, I found a blue post-it note with the following message:

Push play. Song 17. Love you.

"Ben Folds » The Luckiest
I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here

And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?

And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you

Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away

I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest"

No, Adam...WE are the luckiest.

I have ALWAYS said: "This world could use more Adams and Beths." It seems that when our children are happy ... we are happy beyond "our normal" wonderful life. I have always felt so blessed with finding "the love of my life", and being able to create more love than I could have ever imagined. Each of our children brought us more love and joy and made our world brighter than we could have ever believed. What has magnified this love even more, is how it is progressing to the next generation. THIS IS SUCCESS. How beautiful!

"Thank you" "Thank You" "THANK YOU BETH" for documenting your life, your loves, your family, and your extended family (who is now happily, just-plain family) too. What a gift you have given us all. What a gift you are to us all. I feel the love and joy that my own mom must feel as she sees the beautiful lives of her grandchildren growing and progressing. That Golden Thread is strong, and best of all it is growing stronger.

Love,
~Wendy
