Sweet, Sweet Sleep

This week we have revisited the dreaded game of musical beds. It's an intricate dance, engaged in by all members of our family. Last night, for instance, Aaron woke as we were finally going to bed to use the bathroom, and decided he wanted to snuggle in next to me in our bed (affectionately referred to as the "big bed") instead of returning to the bed he shares with Collin. Minutes later, Nolan awoke for a feeding, so Adam changed his diaper and placed him next to me, on my other side.

Since there was no longer any room in our queen bed for Adam, he left to go sleep with Collin. Later, when Adam awoke (probably out of habit), he returned to our room, gently placed Aaron back in his bed next to Collin, and moved Nolan back to his crib, which is still in our bedroom.

The details of what conspired for the remainder of the early morning hours are foggy, but when the alarm went off at 6:00 am to wake Adam for morning tennis practice with Haddorff, Adam was laying between Collin and Aaron, trying to convince them to go back to sleep (Collin woke at 5:25am for the day), and Nolan was saddled up to what amounts to an all-night buffet in our bed.

I know that someday we will sleep again...I just hope when the day comes, our bodies remember how to do it.
